We are consulting on the emerging masterplan for Fareham Town Centre.
This marks the next stage in delivering Fareham Borough Council's Town Centre Regeneration Strategy (2025–2035), which has been shaped by the views of local people, businesses and community groups.
Over the past year, we have been developing an outline masterplan for the shopping centre and surrounding area. The emerging masterplan focusses on creating a more dynamic and attractive environment that draws more people into the town centre. We will be holding two consultation events:
- Saturday 15th November, 11am–3pm
- Thursday 20th November, 4pm–7pm
- Location: Former Clarks unit, Fareham Shopping Centre, PO16 0PQ
At these events, attendees will have a unique opportunity to view the physical model illustrating the area proposed for demolition and redevelopment as part of its emerging masterplan.
The ambitious proposals are designed to revitalise the shopping centre and surrounding areas, including:
- Demolition of the east side of the shopping centre and adjoining multi-storey car park to create a right-sized retail area.
- Creation of a new north-south pedestrian arcade, linking Fareham Live and West Street, with extended opening hours and enhanced leisure and dining.
- A new vibrant public square, green spaces, and improved routes for walking and cycling.
- Retention and relocation of key services such as the NHS, Job Centre, and library into improved facilities.
- New homes offering a mixture of types and tenures.
- A comprehensive parking strategy and enhanced transport links.
