What we are proposing

Fareham Borough Council is keen to encourage and promote responsible dog ownership within the Borough and would like to hear residents’ views on whether to continue to put in place a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).

While most dog owners act considerately, a small number do not always do so and complaints about dog fouling and nuisance behaviour are regularly made to the Council.

The current Public Spaces Protection Order is due to expire in 2022 and we would like to extend its powers by a further three years.

To let us know your comments please take part in the survey above before the 25th March 2022.

You Said

This engagement exercise took place from 28 February to 25 March 2022 and received a total of 191 responses. There remains strong support for issuing fixed penalty notices for not clearing up dog foul and the majority agree that dogs should be on a lead in certain areas.

We Did

It was agreed that the draft Public Space Protection Order presented initially in 2014 will be extended for a further period of three years. The agenda and minutes alongside the report can be found in the link above.
