We received a total of 88 responses from residents, local businesses, and other stakeholders. The majority of respondents were positive about our proposals for the site, particularly:
- The use of the site for affordable housing
- Its closeness to local services and transport links
- The use of the ground floor for commercial space
- The size and height of the building
- The appearance and design features of the building
- The proposed design of the communal space
Feedback comments focused on five key areas:
- Parking provision and the impact on surrounding residential roads
- Inclusion of commercial space
- Accessibility for people with mobility needs
- Incorporating low carbon features e.g. Solar Panels
- The future of Foresters' Hall and the desire to reflect the building's heritage

Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation and shared their views. All comments have been carefully considered as part of the review of the draft redevelopment plans.
- Parking: The scheme aligns with the town centre parking standards in this highly accessible location, which has the lowest level of car ownership in the borough. The Council will also soon begin developing a wider town centre parking strategy for publication in 2026. Further details can be found here: www.fareham.gov.uk/pdf/planning/FarehamTownCentreRegenStrategy.pdf
- Commercial space: New flexible-use units for businesses will support town centre vitality and align with planning policy.
- Accessibility: The wheelchair-accessible unit will now have scooter charging/storage and dedicated bin facilities following the feedback received.
- Low carbon features: The development proposal includes Solar Panels. Electric Vehicle car charging will also be installed where it is practical and safe to do so.
- Foresters' Hall: While the original building and façade is structurally beyond repair, the new design includes architectural features that reflect its character.
Next Steps
The Council’s Executive will decide in a meeting on 2 October 2025, whether to approve the funding arrangements needed to move forward with the redevelopment. If approved, a planning application will be submitted later this year, allowing a further opportunity for the public to comment on the plans.
