This Fareham Borough Council public consultation is launched to give Fareham residents the opportunity to comment on a new Draft Allocations Policy. The Council seeks to ensure it is easy to follow and as clear and concise as possible. The policy document provides comprehensive information on the processes and procedures followed by the Council when allocating homes from its available stock of housing. To make it easier to get key information quickly, the Council has also produced an 'Easy Read' version of the policy. We value feedback from the residents of Fareham. We did
As a result of the consultation feedback the below changes were made to the policy document.
- The Policy was amended to provide more clarity to those using the 'moving on from supported accomodation' pathway.
- The five-year stipulation for local connection purposes has been removed from the Policy for armed forces personnel.
- The Policy has been amended to reflect that only those meeting any of the banding factors may join.
- Further efforts to increase ease of understanding would require the removal of essential legal and technical content, which is necessary to preserve the policy’s integrity. The emerging Easy Read will seek to rectify this.
The Fareham Housing Allocations Policy was reviewed at an Executive meeting on 1 September 2025.
