We are asking

Throughout 2025, gathered insights from local people and groups to understand how the park is experienced.Council officers and colleagues from Arkwood were on hand to discuss Holly Hill Rediscovered and ask for residents' input to help shape restoration plans and future activities, ensuring the park remains a place to enjoy, connect with nature, and celebrate its rich ecologies and histories.

A survey was also produced to capture your feedback.

What you would like to see as part of the improvements made at Holly Hill in terms of:

  • Activities and events
  • Considerations for accessibility and inclusivity
  • Ways to be involved with the project such as volunteering or receiving communications

What can't you Influence?

There are many factors the Council and Arkwood must take into consideration for these improvements:

  • Environmental considerations such as biodiversity and existing trees
  • Cost

You said

Between June and October 2025, we spoke to more than 840 local people to understand how you use and experience Holly Hill, thank you to everyone who took part!

We delivered 4 pop-up events, 5 walk-and-talk sessions, 1 public workshop, and 1 targeted accessibility event delivered jointly by Fareham Borough Council and Arkwood consultants. We received feedback from 14 local organisations/community groups.

Here’s a quick look at the key themes that came out of the consultation:

Transport & Parking
• Free parking appreciated

• Road crossing near the leisure centre feels unsafe

• Strong interest in the Victorian design and past uses of the site

Landscape, Nature & Wildlife
• Lots of curiosity about plants, wildlife and water features
• Peace and quiet is highly valued
• People would like better ways to understand the landscape

Accessibility
• Need for clearer access information online and onsite
• Desire for more accessible paths and resting points

Wayfinding
• Better maps and signage requested
• People enjoy an element of discovery, so want a balance

 Other Insights
• Holly Hill is loved just as it is
• It feels like a “hidden gem” that not everyone knows about
• Volunteers want more opportunities to get involved

We did

The feedback received will inform and help shape the restoration plans and guide future activities and events - ensuring the park remains a place to enjoy, connect with nature and
celebrate its rich ecologies and histories.

While not everything can be actioned immediately, your ideas will shape the long‑term future of Holly Hill as one of our most important green spaces.

We expect to engage on more detailed proposals in Spring 2026.
